The Restaurant Maskana is positioned in the center of Barcelona behind the famous Borne Market; one of the most important iron buildings situated in the South Oriental side of the Ribera.

The fundamental characteristic of the restaurant is its positioning one level below the street, so it resulted important for the people to be able to see it also when walking by; thus, the decision had been to play with different materials: both natural and artificial. The large breach brings the natural light from above to the underground level to illuminate the tables. On the ground level, the old wall was renovated with the insertion of some modern elements, such as the kitchen. The iron stairway is very organic and gives to the environment a correspondence between light and heavy.

The intervention results as being well balanced and maintaining the harmony between all of the elements and materials employed.
